Bow Wow at Las Vegas House of Blues

Bow Wow at the Las Vegas House of Blues
August 16, 2008

Bow Wow (formerly Lil' Bow Wow), is an American rapper, actor, and music producer. He released his debut album Beware of Dog at age 13, then under the stage name Lil' Bow Wow, which he carried until his 2003 album Unleashed, under simply Bow Wow. Two more albums followed, Wanted in 2005 and The Price of Fame in 2006. In 2007, he released the collaboration album Face Off with Omarion.

At the age of 13, he released his debut album, Beware of Dog, featuring Snoop Dogg, Jagged Edge, Jermaine Dupri, Xscape, and Da Brat. It spawned the singles, "Bounce With Me", "Bow Wow (That's My Name)" featuring Snoop Dogg, "Puppy Love" with Jagged Edge, and "Ghetto Girls". It sold nearly two and a half million copies.[1] He was also featured on the "Wild Wild West" soundtrack, performing "The Stick Up" with Jermaine Dupri.

In 2001, he released his second album, Doggy Bag. Singles from the album were "Take Ya Home" with Jagged Edge, and "Thank You". It went certified double platinum. Guest appearances include Xscape, Jagged Edge, and Da Brat.

In 2003, he released his third album, Unleashed. He dropped the "Lil" from his name, now calling himself simply "Bow Wow." The first single off the album was "Let's Get Down," featuring Birdman, the founder of Cash Money Records. This single became a success. The second single was then released, "My Baby", featuring Jagged Edge. Unlike his previous albums, this one was not produced under the mentorship of Jermaine Dupri, and solidly earned gold status in spite of Dupri's absence. Guest appearances include Jagged Edge, Birdman, Mario, and Amerie.

In 2005, Bow Wow released his fourth album, Wanted. The first single was "Let Me Hold You", featuring Omarion. This song became a hit. Then Bow Wow released his second single, "Like You", featuring Ciara. After the single release, Bow Wow and Ciara began dating, but after a few months, they broke up. Wanted's third single, "Fresh Azimiz", features J-Kwon and Jermaine Dupri. The album was certified double platinum. Guest appearances include J-Kwon, Jermaine Dupri, Omarion, Ciara, Snoop Dogg, and T. Waters.

In 2006, Bow Wow released his fifth album, The Price of Fame. Like Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, Bow Wow shaved off his cornrows for a new look. His first single was "Shortie Like Mine", featuring Chris Brown. This became a hit. Then there was a conflict between choosing a second single. He wanted "I'm a Flirt" to be the single, but at the last minute changed it to "Outta My System", featuring T-Pain, which became a success. R. Kelly then used the song and created a remix which features T.I. and T-Pain, and made this his debut single for his album Double Up. This reached #12 on the billboard chart and Bow Wow shared credit. This went platinum only. Guest appearances include Chris Brown, T-Pain, Lil Scrappy, Lil Wayne, Short Dawg, Pimp C, Da Brat, R. Kelly, and Khleo Thomas.

Bow Wow and Omarion released a collaborative album on December 11, 2007, Face Off. The first single was "Girlfriend," which peaked at #33 on the Billboard Top 100. The second single is "Hey Baby (Jump Off)." Guest producers include T-Pain, Nitti, The Neptunes, Scott Storch, Timbaland, and Rick Rubin.

Bow Wow is currently working on his seventh studio album entitled H.I.M.(History In Making). The album is slated to be released in late 2008 and feature production from Swizz Beatz, Lil Ronnie, Jermaine Dupri, Soulja Boy, and DJ Khaled. Guest appearances include Soulja Boy, Swizz Beatz, Lil Wayne, DJ Khaled, Young Jinsu, and others. Several tracks like "Pole In My Basement", "Shake It", and "Stunt When I See U" have been leaked on the internet.

Toad the Wet Sprocket at Las Vegas House of Blues

Toad The Wet Sprocket
Las Vegas House of Blues
August 31, 2008

Toad the Wet Sprocket is an American folk rock band consisting of singer Glen Phillips, guitarist Todd Nichols, bassist Dean Dinning, and drummer Randy Guss.
Toad the Wet Sprocket was formed in 1986 at San Marcos High School just outside of Santa Barbara, California, when singer/songwriter Glen Phillips was only 14 and a freshman; the other members were 17 and juniors. The band drew its name from the Eric Idle monologue "Rock Notes" on Monty Python's Contractual Obligation Album from 1980, although the name is featured in a parody of The Old Grey Whistle Test on Rutland Weekend Television in 1975. The band's first public appearance was at an open-mic talent contest in September 1986. The band lost the competition.
Toad the Wet Sprocket's first album came out in 1989. Bread & Circus was self-financed through their label, Abe Records. The album spawned the singles "Way Away" and "One Little Girl," which made the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, but did not receive much attention.
The follow-up to Bread & Circus, Pale, was released in 1990 and saw their sound mature. During the recording of the album, Toad signed to Columbia Records while declining the opportunity to re-record Pale, but negotiating to have Columbia Records reissue Bread & Circus. Featuring the singles "Jam" and the Modern Rock Chart hit "Come Back Down," the album was still not a success; but the singles received heavy airplay on college radio stations.
The band finally achieved fame with their third album, fear. The album was released in 1991, and saw the singles, "All I Want" and "Walk on the Ocean" reaching the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100. The album became the band's first RIAA-certified platinum album.
In 1993, the Mike Myers feature film So I Married an Axe Murderer included the song "Brother" on its soundtrack. "Brother" later appeared in the In Light Syrup compilation album, as well as on the 2004 release of the live album Welcome Home: Live at the Arlington Theatre, Santa Barbara 1992.
In 1994, after years of heavy touring, the band released their follow-up to fear, Dulcinea. This album spawned the hit singles "Fall Down," which reached #1 on the US Modern Rock charts, as well as #5 on the Mainstream Rock chart, and "Something's Always Wrong," which also charted. Like fear, this album was certified platinum by the RIAA.
A compilation album of b-sides and rarities, In Light Syrup, was released in 1995; it included the singles "Good Intentions," which was featured on the soundtrack for the television show Friends, as well as the aforementioned "Brother." The compilation was certified as a gold album in 2001.
The release of Coil in 1997 acted as the proper follow up to 1994's Dulcinea. Featuring a more electric, rock sound, it featured the Modern Rock and Mainstream Rock hit "Come Down," as well as the singles "Crazy Life" (previously featured on the soundtrack for the film 'Empire Records') and "Whatever I Fear."

Face to Face at Las Vegas House of Blues

Face to Face Performing at House of Blues
Las Vegas
November 15, 2008

Face to Face is a punk rock band from Victorville, California formed in 1991 by frontman Trever Keith.
Originally known as "Zero Tolerance", Keith had been the only constant member of the band during their years of touring and recording albums. The group was initially signed by Dr. Strange Records and were then signed to Fat Wreck Chords. Face to Face rose to fame with their 1995 second album Big Choice, featuring their radio hit "Disconnected", which was first played by KROQ and appeared in the movies Tank Girl and National Lampoon's Senior Trip. The band declined in popularity after the departure of founding drummer Rob Kurth, who left in 1998.

During their initial twelve year run, Face to Face became one of the seminal and influential punk rock bands to come out of California, along with Green Day, The Offspring (the latter of which current drummer Pete Parada would eventually join), Bad Religion, Social Distortion, Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise, No Use for a Name, Lagwagon, The Vandals, Guttermouth, and many others.
Face to Face split up in November 2003, because of musical differences. Since then, all the members of the band had played in a number of post-Face to Face projects, including Legion of Doom, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, The Offspring and Saves the Day. In April 2008, Face to Face performed together for the first time in five years at The Glasshouse in Pomona, California. The band has continued to perform numerous live venues since, but they have not expressed plans for a new album.
