Common (originally Common Sense) was a highly influential figure in rap's underground during the '90s, keeping the sophisticated lyrical technique and flowing syncopations of jazz-rap alive in an era when commercial gangsta rap was threatening to obliterate everything in its path. His literate, intelligent, nimbly performed rhymes and political consciousness certainly didn't fit the fashions of the moment, but he was able to win a devoted cult audience. Invincible Summer will be Chicago hip-hop artist 8th studio album. It was due to be released on June 24th 2008 but has been pushed back to September 22nd due to Common filming.
The first single will be "Universal Mind Control", which features Pharrell. Another track, also featuring Pharrell and titled "Announcement", has leaked to the internet. The two songs were released on July 1, 2008, on iTunes as part of the "Announcement" EP

3 Doors Down released their self-titled fourth album on May 20, 2008. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, selling 154,000 copies in its first week. It is the band's second consecutive #1 album on the chart after Seventeen Days, as well their fourth album to reach the Top Ten. The album contains the singles "It's Not My Time" and Citizen/Soldier, a song written as a tribute to the National Guard. They also recorded the song "The Champion In Me" in support of the US olympic teams and are currently touring with Staind, Hinder, and Jet Black Stare.
